Jealousy believed to be motive behind woman’s murder

Police believe jealousy was behind the murder of a 32-year-old woman in her rented room at Parkcity Commercial Square.
Following a distress call from a member of the public around 7.30am on Monday, Nora Jelinang’s bruised body was found clad only in underwear.
A police source revealed there were no wounds on her body and no traces of blood were found on the floor or walls.
The body was later taken to the Bintulu Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.
Tenants of nearby rooms told police they heard the victim arguing with a man on Sunday between 6.30pm and 8.30pm.
This led police to arrest a 31-year-old man at the compound of the Bintulu Police One Stop Centre around 9.14am to assist with the investigation.
Police also seized three mobile phones, keys and a screwdriver from him.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to beating and kicking Nora on Sunday around 6.30pm and leaving her at 10.20pm.
The suspect is a relative of the victim and had known her since childhood.
He is married with a child while the victim, a widow also had one child.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
